Dear Mr and Mrs Akleman,

I am devastated by the tragic news of Kubilay. I wish I had managed to bid him farewell at the funeral.

Kubilay packed more into his bright life than most people pack into a long, monotonous lifetime. I always found his enthusiasm and energy most inspiring. I shall miss his positive attitude.

I know there is no ease for the heart to be had from words of reason and that in the very assurance of sorrow's fading there is more sorrow. So I offer you only my deeply affectionate and compassionate thoughts and wish for you only that the strange thing may never fail you, whatever it is, that gives us the strength to live on and on with our wounds.

When you next visit England, you are most welcome in my home. Please let me know if you need anything.

I just wanted to confirm your address:

Rustiye Sok.51-3
81030 Kiziltoprak
Istanbul
Turkey

I shall try to contact as many people from Duke as possible but I have lost track with many of them. The good thing about Duke was meeting Kubilay and I shall attempt to emulate his enthusiasm and energy throughout my life.

Please let me know the website address, which is dedicated to Kubilay's memory.

My sincere condolences,

B-J.
